Do’s and Don’ts for Naturally Beautiful Skin

Naturally beautiful skin is something everyone craves for. Are you giving your skin the proper TLC? Here are some helpful skin care do’s and don’ts to abide by to help keep your skin looking healthy and flawless day in and day out!

Do’s

Drink Water
Drink at least 8 glasses of water a day, if not more. You can also eat fruits and vegetables that have a higher water content such as watermelon, cucumber, and grapefruit.

Apply Sunscreen
Exposure to sun rays increases the risk of wrinkles and forming of premature age spots. Apply sunscreen every day, regardless of the weather and whether you plan to go out that day. Ensure your sunscreen is at least SPF30.

Get a Good Night’s Sleep
Try to get at least 8 hours of sleep every night. No one likes the appearance of tired-looking skin, it sags and you get bags – and we’re not talking about the fashion variety hanging on your arm!

Sweat It Out
Blood circulation is needed for clear skin. Exercising accelerates the cleansing process of your entire body. You will notice a glow on your face after working out. Not to mention a dose of happy endorphins.

Eat Healthily
You are what you eat. Great skin starts on the inside. Fresh fruits and vegetables should be an important part of your diet as they contain vitamins and essential proteins needed for the skin to glow. Omega 3 fatty acids helps skin to look healthier and increases heart health. Foods highest in omega 3 fatty acids include seafood (especially tuna and salmon) as well as walnuts, canola oil, and flax seed.

Exfoliate and Moisturise
Exfoliate once a week to remove old dead skin cells and to make room for new cell regeneration. Moisturiser is one of the most important beauty products out there. Keeping your skin moisturised will help to combat multiple skin concerns down the road. Skin cell regeneration works best at night, so be sure to use a nighttime moisturiser before bed.

Don’ts

Use Too Many Chemical Products
Using too many chemical products is never good for your skin health. Be natural.

Smoke
The more you smoke, the quicker your skin ages. Nicotine narrows the blood vessels, thus the flow of oxygen to every part of the skin gets restricted.

Drink Caffeine and Alcohol
Alcohol and caffeine dehydrates and dulls the appearance of your skin.

Pop Pimples

Popping or squeezing a pimple is bad as it will force the debris from the pore deeper into the follicle which can cause a rupture and spilling of the infected material into the dermis. This will make your skin more prone to having blemishes and acne scars.

Keep Touching Your Face

Whatever we touch, we will get germs or bacteria on our hands. That is why is it advisable to wash your hands properly before touching your face to avoid the bacterial infections which can cause blemishes and acne.
