Is Cleansing Oil Good for Your Skin?

Pre-cleansing is a skin care routine aimed to remove make up, dirt, oil and impurities that is on your skin. This step is usually taken prior to cleansing your face because once the dirt and impurities are removed, our facial cleanser will be able to clean deeper and more efficiently, encouraging, a clearer, healthier skin with a good balance of natural oils.

Most pre-cleansers in the market are oil-based, most popular being cleansing oils and cleansing creams. There are even some cleansing oils that can perform the emulsification process, which cleans the pore more thoroughly.

In this article, we will focus on cleansing oils.

When massaged onto our skin, cleansing oil penetrates deeply and hence, removes all the dirt and impurities, without harming the skin or leaving any residue behind. Cleansing oils are suitable for those with oily or problematic skin as it keeps the skin’s natural pH in balance, preventing the over-production of sebum.

Even though those with oily skin would love to banish the excess shine, oily skin do require an optimum amount of oil to remain supple and balanced. Oil free-cleansers and soap actually can do more harm by stripping the skin’s natural oil, causing dryness and stimulating extra oil production. Cleansing oil, on the other hand, brings the benefit of keeping the skin’s natural oil in balance.

Cleansing oil also great for dry skin as it hydrates, moisturizes, prevents wrinkles and will not clog the pores. All in all, cleansing oil is suitable for all types of skin, however, do note, that not all oils are created equal.

Oil varies in different molecular weights and structure; therefore some oils can cause breakouts whereas others, like botanical oils are non-comedogenic. Botanical oils are beneficial to all type of skins and have anti-oxidant, anti-irritant and anti-microbial properties which will remove the excess impurities without affecting our skin’s natural moisture.

Cleansing Oil is not only a gentle and sensual method to clean our skin but it is very simple and convenient to use too! For best results, apply a generous amount of oil onto a dry face; massage the oil all over the face. Introduce water and continue to emulsify the oil. Rinse with a few splashes of water for a soft, smooth and clean skin!
